Hoko is a researcher specialized in socio-legal study of Indonesia and Japan, children, and human rights law. For her PhD thesis, she evaluates the international framework of child marriage based on empirical data collected from her fieldwork in Bali.
Hoko has also worked on several development projects in Indonesia, the Philippines and Myanmar. In her free time, she likes to hike and play tennis.

Maarten is a historian specializing in colonial mechanisms of governance, taxation and statecraft, specifically in the case of the Netherlands East-Indies. He has wide experience in conducting archival research in both Indonesia and the Netherlands. In his spare time, Maarten enjoys running and both listening to and playing classical music.

Mies is an anthropologist with broad research experience in West Java, Indonesia on labour relations, gender and family law. She is also the founder and chair of the Java Village Foundation, supporting women and young people in the region where she became involved with research.
